Tori's Wave Kit ๐ŸŒŠ

No research team on this one โ€” this is Tori's own shelf. He wears his hair in waves: the grease, the brush, the detangler for wash & style, the durag, and the stocking cap. What's in the kit, what each piece does, and where the good ones actually come from.

How the kit works

Waves are trained, not born

You brush the pattern in. The grease holds it and feeds it. Then the durag or the cap presses it flat while it sets โ€” especially overnight. Skip the tie-down and a night's sleep unravels the day's brushing. That's the whole system; the shelf below is picking the right version of each piece.

Tori's pick logic

๐ŸŒŠ Wave grease & pomade

Pick: the classics โ€” Murray's and Sportin' Waves have been laying waves for decades; heavy pomade when you're training and need the hold. In Tori's own cabinet: the 360 waves pomade โ€” it's on his shelf and in his rotation. Budget / daily pick: a wave butter (Wave Builder, Cantu) for moisture and a softer hold โ€” and the Murray's tin itself sits around five bucks and lasts.

๐Ÿชฎ The brush

Pick: a medium brush for everyday sessions; a hard brush earns its place when you're wolfing (growing the waves out) or brushing in the shower. A palm brush fits the hand and gives you control. Budget pick: one good medium brush covers most days โ€” add the hard brush when the kit grows.

๐Ÿชฅ The detangler brush โ€” wash & style

Pick: a detangler brush is Tori's wash-day tool. The flexible teeth work the shampoo through without snagging, and brushing the lather in is the wash & style โ€” the pattern gets trained while the hair gets clean. Tori's wash: a rice shampoo soap bar โ€” that's the lather he brushes through. Budget pick: a few bucks at the beauty supply, right near the durags โ€” grab one on your next cap run.

๐ŸŒ™ Durags โ€” the tie-down

Pick: silky or stretch with long, wide tails โ€” real compression without digging in. Tori's rule: the good durags come from the hair and beauty-supply store. The gas-station rack ones slip off by 3 AM and stretch out in a week. Budget pick: buy two, so one is always clean.

Tori's pick logic

๐Ÿงข Stocking & wave caps

Pick: the cap goes over the durag to double the compression on training days, or solo on light days. Same rule as the durags: beauty-supply shelves carry the ones that actually stay on and hold their stretch. Budget pick: a multi-pack โ€” caps are the piece you replace most.

Watch-outs

๐Ÿšฉ Brushing dry hair snaps it: brush damp or moisturized, not bone-dry.
๐Ÿšฉ Heavy grease builds up: keep a real wash day in the week or the shine turns to gunk.
๐Ÿšฉ One untied night undoes a week: the tie-down is not optional โ€” it's half the system.
๐Ÿšฉ Thin straps leave a line: a durag mark across your forehead all morning means the straps are too thin or tied too tight.

Where it sells

Amazon (the classic greases, around $5โ€“6 a tin when last checked in October 2026 โ€” prices move) โ€ข your local beauty-supply store (the good durags and caps โ€” Tori's rule) โ€ข SamsBeauty online (the big beauty-supply catalog) โ€ข Walmart (grease and basics).

No real beauty-supply near you? Ask Find It โ€” give us your ZIP and we'll point you to one that stocks the good durags, or hunt the kit down for you.

Featured starter recipe

Skillet sausage, peppers & rice

You need: smoked sausage, two bell peppers, one onion, garlic, cooked rice, a little oil, salt, pepper, and paprika.

  1. Brown the sliced sausage and set it aside.
  2. Soften the peppers and onion in the same skillet.
  3. Stir the sausage and rice back in with the seasoning.
  4. Let the bottom crisp for one minute before serving.

Stretch it: Add beans or a bag of frozen mixed vegetables and it feeds more people without starting over.

Money-saver tip

๐Ÿฅ– Too Good To Go โ€” good food for about a third of the price

Bakeries, cafes, restaurants, and stores near you sell a Surprise Bag of the day's unsold food in the Too Good To Go app โ€” usually about a third of the real price, like $5โ€“$10 for $15โ€“$30 of food. Reserve a bag in the app and pick it up in the store's window that day.

Straight talk: the contents are a surprise (that's the deal), the food is near its sell-by date, bags go fast, and if you miss your pickup window the bag is gone. Not a sponsor and not a partner โ€” just a good deal worth knowing about. How it works โ†—
